stretched out on a crib of sand

could have used a pair of legs to go with all those arms..

yes, please.

inside: closet of neutral colored knit wear, kettle, wireless.
outside: pumpkin patch, oversized roaming turtles, well.

possible directions i could take my blog in

there's better.
and then,
there's worse.

im kinda leaning toward the latter.

i'm just happy to be nominated.

CHESTER.

Came in a basket for momma in feb,
Hardly a shy, younger one, we said.
Especially cute asleep at the foot of the bed,
Slightly a nuisance when he snored or shed.
Trotted round the neighborhood blocks
Encouraging bypassers to stop and greet
Returning to him was such a treat!

it is simple.

chessie,
you dotted our lives with all the great tenderness and frustration a little ball of black fur can.
i will miss you.
i hope everything i can for your peace.

may i introduce to you my esteemed colleague...

Big rubes here, reppin the male contingent of Gambier 06 on polkahippocorn, the spiciest new blog on the web. Before I indulge, I want to holler righteous shoutouts to my girls – Carlybee who I have never seen (albeit vid-chat) so happy lately, and my girl Moo who has successfully challenged the notion that you don’t have to be a completely loser to blogspeak. Speaking of losers, please look at this carrot colored turbo below:
it is people like this that assuage egos like mine. Also didn’t realize belt buckles were getting rocked by gay Russian military assassins, but I digress. And by digress, I mean I move one over to the chromosomally confused country music fan with a forehead the size of a thigh and t-shirt sleeves that could keep your warm at winter. Eat your heart out, girls. Anyway I don’t really have much to say except I miss you both dearly, and anyone else who reads this blog as religiously as I do. A black kate moss once told me: www.polkahippocorn.blogspot.com.

how to (im sure you were wondering)

Poke-a-Hippo with a corn.
Spot him evenly and spray paint said imprints
all the colors foreign to his natural habitat.
Elevate his prehistoric status to that of imagination,
Equip him with a tusk of the striped variety,
Protrude it from the tender place between his eyes,
where all magic is cultivated.
Plop a star at the tip of the spire,
so he is forever led by hope.

there she is!
i knew something was missing.

me, little and day...halloween 2004.
reunited this weekend, still as playful, cheeky and piggy as ever.

tolerance

carlybee here...just wanted to take a moment on this sunny holiday to remind everyone that celebrating love is more than just embracing gifts of flowers and chocolate...it is also about acceptance. february 14th is a great time to remind ourselves to practice having an open heart and an open mind.

i've brought along a special friend with me today to share in the gifts of tolerance. his name is lumpy. although he may look like an elephant, lumpy is actually a special creature called a heffalump. let's all give a shout out to lumpy's purple fur and unique wavy ears. on the inside, his heart is full of love, just like yours and mine.

happy valentine's day everyone.

to all of my loyal fans.

snow
people havent seen it in a while.
so.
they go about their business.
but they are being attacked by falling flakes of frozen water.
so.
they slip on their feet.
they have white layers of ice all over their coiffed hair.
cigarettes fall victim to a premature fizzle.
hands in pockets.
no phones held to the ear.
the mission is universally clear.
make it to the soup-monger,
or the fire-starter
and try to be graceful tomorrow.

cocoa vs gelatin

what would you rather receive for valentine's day?

germs

think they are SOOO cool.
well guess what, immune systems are cooler.
